Willem Jan Roelofs (1958) holds a master degree in Business Administration from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. He also did Post-Academic Courses in Association Management (European certificate), Effective Leadership and Management Development (VU University Amsterdam and Nyenrode University). He was lecturer Public Affairs at the Post Academic Education at VU University.
Willem Jan started his career as a policy advisor to a political party in the Dutch Parliament. After 8 years he switched sides and joined the Dutch Sports Federation (NSF) where he was responsible for Public Affairs.
Willem Jan joined Teppema BV in 1991, a company owned by Ernst & Young, providing services and consultancy to associations. As an industry consultant Willem Jan advised a large number of (international) companies and associations, primarily in the field of organization development, corporate strategy and public affairs.
Willem Jan founded Issue Management and Public Affairs (IMPA) in 1994 as new service to associations and private companies and opened offices in Utrecht, The Hague and Brussels. He became managing director of Teppema BV in 1996 and two years later Willem Jan became partner at Ernst & Young Consulting (EYC). EYC merged with Cap Gemini in 2000. Willem Jan became Vice President Consulting Services, specialized in Association Consultancy, Issue Management and Public Affairs.
Since 2006, Willem Jan is partner and senior consultant at EPPA.
